At a time when everybody seems to be shouting how environmentally friendly they are, you’d be forgiven for thinking that it would be impossible to be green with a wrist watch. Yet with We-Wood watches you can help save the world, second by second, minute by minute, hour by hour.
How, exactly? Well, now you can demonstrate your ever-so-green credentials with a wrist watch with a real wooden casing and wristband. If you’re thinking that cutting down trees to carve into watches isn’t exactly green, you’re right! But here’s the thing: for every watch you buy, WeWood plant another tree. You can certainly feel free to feel smug when wearing this watch – even the presentation case is made entirely from recycled “green” materials.
The quartz movement is made by Miyota (Japan), and is a tried and tested system found in many other watches sold around the world, while the watch-glass is both hardened and scratch-proof. The 22cm (c. 9″) strap, also wooden, allows for the removal of up to six links for those with smaller wrists giving a minimum size of 16cm (c. 6.7″). The battery is a Sony SR626W, which is easily available through all major outlets when the time comes to replace it.
The colour shown in the illustration may vary slightly due to the age and seasoning of the wood used to make your watch.
